Carpenters Estate Masterplan shortlisted for NLA award
We are delighted to announce that the Carpenters Estate Masterplan has been shortlisted for a NLA award in the 'Masterplans and Area Strategies' category.
Tibbalds provided strategic urban design and planning advice to Populo Living and the design team, which includes Proctor & Matthews Architects, Metropolitan Workshop LLP, Tibbalds / CampbellReith (JV), LDA Design and XCO2.
The project enabled the redevelopment of over 10 hectares of land at Carpenters Estate, Stratford for a re-developed mixed-use neighbourhood with over 2,000 new and replacement mixed tenure homes (including 50% affordable housing), a new park and green spaces, a new Building Crafts college, new retail and commercial uses, a hotel and a pub is to be re-provided.
The project was a fantastic opportunity to work on one of the largest estate regeneration projects in London, working with the residents and Populo Living to create a resident-led masterplan for the people of the Carpenters Estate.
Tibbalds also provided Planning advice on redevelopment proposals at Tower Court, Hackney, which has also been shortlisted in the ‘Housing’ category.
The scheme was developed by a multi-disciplinary design team led by Adam Kham Architects, and provides 132 high-quality, modern mixed tenure homes for social rent, shared ownership and sale.
We are thrilled these projects have been shortlisted, and look forward to the winners being announced at The Guildhall on Thursday 21 November.
