Gingerbready City 2021 is now open to visit!
Gingerbread City, masterplanned by Tibbalds in collaboration with Madeleine Kessler and the Museum of Architecture, is now open to visitors. Tibbalds have been involved in the masterplanning of the city for the past five years, and it brings design challenges that are very different to our other urban design projects!
One of the special things about the city is its quick progression from concept design to full construction within a matter of months, and the architecture, landscape architecture and engineering practices that build their plots within the parameters we have set out always excel in creating a mesmerising exhibition. This year's exhibition explores the theme of re-wliding, seeking to create a city that explores imaginative new ways of bringing nature into our densely populated cities. You can expect repurposed factories, floating houses and vertical farms, all of which are constructed from all things edible!
Our plot this year is all about the re-wilding of a landscape that was intensively farmed to transform it into an eco-tourism glamping site. The Tibbalds team have been hard at work baking and creating feature turts, glamping globes and festive decoration and we are very proud of the result, which sits on the 'Forest and Green Belt Island' within the city.
This year the exhibition is being held at 6-7 Motcomb Street, Belgravia, London from 4th December 2021 until 9th January 2022 - so get your tickets and don't miss out!
