Hilary Satchwell is giving a talk at Urban Design London this week about the role of neighbourhood planning in supporting communities and housing growth and different forms of participation.
As part of a wider session on ‘Working with Communities’ the talk will look at how five different neighbourhood plans have approached community participation and the types of engagement methods that have been tried and have helped communities bring forward a neighbourhood plan.
The session will also look at how communities can participate in shaping where they live and in having a say on development and change that comes forward, and the culture change that needs to take place for communities to deliver robust planning policy documents. It will also look at how the various stakeholders including communities, planning officers, stakeholder groups, developers and others can work out what they have in common to bring about change rather than operating separately.
