Planning application at Tower Court, Hackney, approved
An application submitted by Tibbalds, at Tower Court, Hackney for upto 135 residential units and community facilities has been approved at Committee by London Borough of Hackney Council.
The site is owned by Hackney Council and until recently was occupied by a 1950s built housing estate.
The estate was vacated by 2013, and the buildings were demolished in 2015. A number of tenant families from the previous estate expressed a desire to exercise their right to return to the site if redeveloped.
A multidisciplinary design team, led by Adam Khan Architects, was appointed by the Council’s Regeneration team to develop proposals for the redevelopment of the estate, comprising a brief for mixed tenure housing, a community ambulance facility and a comprehensive public realm strategy to create a new residential community.
Following an intensive and collaborative design process an application for full planning permission was approved at committee by London Borough of Hackney Council.
