Southbourne DPD Regulation 18 published
Tibbalds is delighted to announce the Regulation 18 publication of the Southbourne Development Plan Document (DPD), which sets out options toward shaping a sustainable future for the village. The document sets out considerations relevant for the village as a whole, such as housing, infrastructure, transport, landscape, and environmental impacts.
Central to the DPD is the importance of locating new development in sustainable locations, such as near the railway station, to promote pedestrian connectivity and public transport use and reduce reliance on cars. By aligning development with transport infrastructure, the plan contributes to the broader goals of environmental sustainability and smart growth. This process not only maximises the potential of each site but also ensures that growth integrates sensitively with Southbourne’s heritage, character and beautiful landscapes, as well as local aspirations and environmental sustainability.
This milestone, developed in close collaboration with Southbourne Parish Council and Chichester District Council, has been underpinned by Tibbalds’ unique skill set, combining planning expertise with high-quality urban design and placemaking. Tibbalds is excited to see this plan come to life and look forward to continuing to work with Southbourne Parish and Chichester District towards a preferred growth strategy.
The consultation will run for 6 weeks at the end of October 2024, during which time you can view the document and make comments by visiting the Chichester District Council website.
