Tibbalds selected as Planning Consultancy of the Year at Planning Awards
In its 20th year, Tibbalds has been selected as Planning Consultancy of the Year at the annual Planning Awards announced yesterday, 13 June.
The Awards are dedicated to showcasing outstanding work and recognising excellence across the planning and placemaking disciplines, with Tibbalds standing out for the judges as result of our approach to community engagement.
Our submission focussed on the practice’s mission to create people friendly places, places that provide better opportunities and quality of life for all who use them, deliver social value, and that draw on the best aspects of their own individual character.
Successful project activity in the last year includes:
- continuing as lead Planning and Masterplanning consultant for Homes England at the Northstowe new town in Cambridgeshire
- securing full planning permission for a new leisure centre and 482 new homes at the Woolwich Leisure Centre
- major milestones for the Portsmouth City Centre North and Custom House Masterplan delivering 2,300 and 650 homes respectively
- producing the Paradise Design Code for Dacorum Borough Council, one of the government’s phase 1 pilot projects to test the National Model Design Code in use
As part of our move to improve the environment and social wellbeing, Tibbalds has committed to achieving Net Zero in business operations well ahead of 2050 and are targeting a 100% reduction by 2030. It is majority owned by an employee ownership trust and is strongly supportive of delivering social value through and within the business, and in its work.
Hilary Satchwell, Managing Director of Tibbalds, said: “We are beyond delighted to have been chosen as Planning Resource’s Consultancy of the Year. It’s truly an honour to be recognised for what we do.
“The judges commented that our approach to community engagement stood out. For a practice dedicated to making people-friendly places through good planning, policy and design, there could be no better accolade.
“Congratulations to all our team members past and present, and enormous thanks to our clients, colleagues and everyone else we have worked with and for over the last 20 years. Being able to share ideas, approaches and experience as we help to create genuinely successful places that provide better opportunities and quality of life remains at the heart of everything we do and love doing. Thank you.”
