Tramshed theatre revitalisation approved
We’re delighted to announce the unanimous approval of a full planning application to refurbish and expand the Tramshed theatre in Woolwich.
The Tramshed is a theatre company and community arts hub based in the heart of Woolwich town centre. The Tramshed building was constructed in 1910 and originally used as a generating station to provide power for the local tram system. It is an attractive, locally listed building facing onto General Gordon Square in the Woolwich Conservation Area. The scheme will sensitively upgrade the historic building and provide greatly improved facilities so that the Tramshed can operate as a community theatre venue and arts hub long into the future.
Working with the Royal Borough of Greenwich and Faulkner Browns Architects, Tibbalds led the planning application process as part our involvement in a wider Council-led town centre regeneration project that will also include a state-of-the-art leisure centre, approximately 450-500 homes, various commercial uses and significant public realm improvements.
