Thame Neighbourhood Plan Delivering New Development
Tibbalds’ ground-breaking Thame Neighbourhood Plan, produced on behalf of Thame Town Council, is continuing to help shape the town’s future. It was the first neighbourhood plan to allocate sites for development, proposing that 775 homes be built on seven different sites around the town. A major residential site allocated in the Plan was granted outline planning permission earlier this year, and now two other sites are coming forward.
Taylor Wimpey has submitted a hybrid application for 187 dwellings on part of the site known as ‘Site C’, incorporating open space to soften views to the town as required by the Neighbourhood Plan and integrating existing landscape. The plans can be viewed here.
The Neighbourhood Plan is not just about new housing: to ensure Thame is a sustainable place it needs employment too. We are delighted that the allocated employment site has secured the backing of two local companies who want to move to larger, higher quality accommodation that is nearer to its Thame workforce. A planning application has been submitted for the development of Site B, again reflecting the design principles set out in the Neighbourhood Plan. Further information can be found on the Thame Town Council website.
