New communities and healthy new towns

Social connections are vital to us all – they bring us joy, give us a sense of belonging, and have a positive impact on our mental health. Cycling and walking, access to nature and opportunities to be active, whatever age and ability, are core to our new communities. As a long-time advocate of people friendly places, we recognise the importance of physical and mental health and wellbeing to the success of urban environments, and use our expertise in masterplanning to guide the creation of inclusive neighbourhoods, towns and cities that foster strong, healthy communities.

Communities work best when they embrace diversity, and a variety of choices need to be made available in order for everyone to thrive. Through our work we provide people of all ages, incomes and abilities with access to comfortable homes, education and efficient services, as well as opportunities to come together, be more active, and move freely in and around their neighbourhood – putting into practice research and established health and wellbeing principles.
